Today's a banner day for me for two reasons. Far most important, it is my son Ben's birthday. He turned 14 today. I can't imagine what more I could ask God for in a son. He is a genuine joy to be around. We went out to dinner to celebrate.
My husband has been trying for some time now to get him a copy of a Lord of the Rings computer game he wanted, but it was out of stock. On order. You know how it goes this time of year. We explained our dilemma to Ben. He was so understanding. He seemed genuinely pleased with the book we gave him, just so he'd have something to open. (He loves to read, but let's be real. It can't make up for the missing video game.) On the way home we decided to stop at an office store, just in case they might have the game. They let us in just as they were closing up, if we promised to hurry. There it was! He got his game after all. I was so happy for him.
I thank God for him. He sincerely loves the Lord and his family. I genuinely enjoy his company.
My less important milestone is that today marks one month of blogging. I started out at Blogger and switched to TypePad, which suits my lack of HTML skills much better. I've learned a lot along the way and made some new cyber friends who have been a real encouragement.
Thanks to all my regular readers for helping this blog make it to the "Large Mammal" status in the TTLB Ecosystem. Thanks for all the thoughtful comments, too. I do enjoy the dialog!
Just discovered your site by way of a link at The King of Fools. As the mother of two daughters I really appreciated your take on modesty. I added you to my list of "must check regularly" bloggers.

Hi, Dory...
Happy B-Day! Let's see, now. Thirty days in cyber-years is equal to uh, well... I could calculate it all out for you, but I would imagine having a 14-year-old son is as big a shock for you as my wife's and my 17th anniversary last Saturday was for us.
Time. Flies.
Your site looks great, of course. As you can tell from my URL, I'm back over at Blogger while TypePad sorts out the bodies. "What Attitude Problem?" will be back, but I think I'll keep this oe strictly for media stuff. Come on over some time and say hi.
